![]() (Seriously though, who were those two dark-skinned chicks because GAT DAYUM.)Īlso, our screening ran a trailer for apparently an August screening of Millennium Actress, and I am most definitely not missing out on that. sure, 6/10, it's pretty standard anime fare I guess. Nothing like conveniently censoring a nipple while the main character struggles with the moral dilemma of killing his newfound love for the sake of the greater good to completely take you out of a scene.Īll of that said, I'm sure I'd like it more if I were a fan of the show, so. The fanservice was pandering (but my friend enjoyed it so successfully pandered to, I guess) and actively distracted from what were supposed to be serious, dramatic scenes. Artemis was fine, Ais(?) was fine, the loli girl was fine, Hestia was fine, science bomber lady was fine, head honcho lady with the sexy barely-a-dress-at-all getup was fine, Hermes and Local Big Sword Guy were fine, chocolate adventurer ladies were HELLA fine, Bell Carnel was a defective sleeping pill that didn't keep you up or help you sleep but just left you in a drowsy, inattentive state. Now obviously I can't speak to his character as it relates to the anime/manga/what-have-you, but here he feels like the ultimate self-insert Nice Guy harem protagonist who cares about everybody and doesn't stand out at all and is completely uninteresting yet has seemingly all of the female characters vying for his affection and is the coolest and bestest Chosen One and on and on and on. Could not care less about anything about him, which is unfortunate because a lot of the movie is about him. ![]() The rest of the characters seem fine, too, except boy oh boy, what a hardtack biscuit made of cardboard left in the dry stale air of an undisturbed Egyptian burial chamber for millennia of a main character Bell is. Really liked the two dark-skinned adventurer girls who showed up towards the end. A lot of the humor falls flat because it's not well set up or set up at all, and other times it gauges the scene wrong so it comes off as inappropriate, but occasionally it got a chuckle out of me. Story seems like it could have been way better if it wasn't essentially filler material. Doesn't do anything particularly well or poorly. My thoughts on it, not knowing anything about the series: My friend who's a fan wanted to see the movie and dragged me along with. But overall I feel like this was a decent movie to watch once. The story itself is not impressive and feels like a run of the mill Shonen Jump movie. Even now there is no word for a streaming release date.Īnyway the movie itself was decent. It was even on Netflix Latin America on July 5! This meant that the movie was up on pirate sites weeks before the movie is supposed to premiere in theaters. The US release was so late that the RAW version was already up on streaming sites in Japan. This brings us to the next issue the dubbed version didn't even have a theatrical release. For context the Code Geass movie was released a week prior to this movie in Japan and it got its theatrical release in the first week of May both subbed and dubbed. The US release was even worse with no word of the movie's release date until in May. We have to see the sales numbers next week for the home release to see how it performs. If this was supposed to be an OVA only release but got theatrical release at the last minute, I could understand. It didn't even make it to the top 15 that week. ![]() This was released only in 43 movie theaters in Japan. Light Novel Readers should properly mark your spoilers for future events.īefore discussing the movie itself, I am really disappointed by the handling of this movie both in Japan and overseas. No legal options for the rest of the world as of today ![]() U-Next and other streaming services for Japan The movie is set after Season 1 but it is really non canon since it doesn't fit in the timeline and the author also mentions that Bell's power is comparable to LN11 when he really should be at the same level as LN5. Staff who have animated all anime in Danmachi.Īt the time of the Japanese release the author gave a pamphlet interview as well as a movie premiere interview. It is written by the Light Novel Author himself and is animated by J.C. This thread is going to be for discussing the movie and people who haven't watch this movie should be beware of Spoilers.Īrrow of the Orion is the first movie of the Danmachi Franchise. We now have a release date for the US Blu-ray release that comes with the English Dub. ![]()
